Update on Mariner departures

The following is from Regent:
People should watch the news for the latest info
Regent says:
The conditions have not improved and more airports are shutting down as a result of the ash. We are working through the process since yesterday to try and accommodate guests who are flying. It is impacting both the embarking and disembarking guests. Many airlines are working with passengers but others are basically telling them they are on their own.
We are working with all the guests who we have provided air for to get them re-booked. All cruise only guests should be directed to their airline/travel agent for assistance as there is nothing we can do operationally for them since we did not issue the air ticket.

Regent announces new dress code

As you know, there has been much debate in recent months about the evening dress code on our ships. Establishing and enforcing a dress code that pleases everyone is never an easy task: on the one hand we need to set a benchmark that reflects the luxurious ambiance of our ships, while on the other hand we recognize that our guests are on vacation and want to feel relaxed and comfortable while they sail with us.

Many of our guests are more traditional and thus are used to and very comfortable with a dress code that is more formal. However, modern day realities dictate that we establish a code that is not only in keeping with current fashion, but is also practical in terms of what our guests need to pack, airline baggage restrictions and costs, and so on. Most importantly, the recent poll on Cruise Critic showed that the majority of current guests and those that are considering sailing with us support a slightly less formal dress code – two thirds of those who voted are in favor of an Elegant Casual evening dress code.

So what we have come up with is what we feel a perfectly balanced solution: it addresses the need for a more relaxed dress, while at the same time acknowledging the fact that there are some guests who enjoy dressing more formally.

Effective with the New Year’s Cruises of Seven Seas Voyager, Seven Seas Mariner and Seven Seas Navigator, our new “Elegant Casual” Evening Dress Code is as follows:

Evening Dress Code (after 6 p.m.)
Two types of dress code have been established for evenings in public areas: Elegant Casual, and Formal Optional. The number of Formal Optional nights per cruise is dependent upon the length of the cruise, as follows:

· Cruises of fifteen nights or less will be Elegant Casual for the duration
· Cruises of sixteen nights or more will have two Formal Optional nights

Elegant Casual: Skirt, or slacks (no jeans) with blouse or sweater, pant suit or dress for ladies; slacks (no jeans) and collared shirt for gentlemen. Sport jackets are optional.

Note: Jeans, T-shirts, baseball caps, shorts, sneakers and bathrobes are not considered appropriate in any public area after 6 p.m.

Formal Optional: While guests are welcome to dress each evening as per the Elegant Casual dress code, during Formal Optional evenings, guests may opt for a more formal choice of clothing including gowns and cocktail dresses for ladies; tuxedos, dinner jackets or dark suit with tie for gentlemen.

Please note that the shipboard management and staff will be enforcing this dress code to ensure that the elegant yet comfortable ambiance of evenings aboard our luxurious ships is maintained.

I would like to personally thank all those who were engaged in the debate, posted their opinions and vote in the poll. Guest feedback is so important to us and helps us continually improve and evolve the Regent Seven Seas Cruises product.

We look forward to welcoming you on board our ships in the near future!

Kind regards,

Mark S. Conroy,
President, Regent Seven Seas Cruises

————————————————————————————————————————
Where are the cruises?

I have another question about the RSSC web site.

We are booked on the Dec 11, 2009 sailing of Navigator to the WesternCaribbean. It shows up on the “Booked Cruises” section of “My Account”. However, all of the cruises of Navigator earlier than Dec 28, 2009 have disappeared from the RSSC web site. This has caused some speculation on the Regent forum of Cruise Critic—see the thread, “Navigator cruises missing”. there are different reports of the cause—everything from a cancellation to a group charter to an unscheduled drydock.

Also, as mentioned earlier, none of the excursions have been posted.

I assume the cruise is still scheduled or it would not appear in my account. However, I am concerned if it turns out there was a large group booking the ship and only a few passengers are orphaned by them.

Is there something mysterious going on, or is it just a computer glitch?

I have never seen a situation where the cruises have been completely removed from the web site, regardless of whether they are sold out.

Regent New Advertising Policy

“We are pleased to announce a change to our advertising policy which simplifies the way that we and our travel partners advertise our free air program.

Effective immediately, all advertised prices will include airline imposed fuel surcharges and government taxes. This new advertising structure is not only simpler and more transparent; it is also more inclusive in its nature. With this change, the air-inclusive cruise price displayed in our marketing materials and on our website will now be priced inclusive of airline imposed fuel surcharges and government taxes for guests taking advantage of our free air program.”

RSSC Shore Excursions

RSSC normally posts their shore excursions about 120 days out for pre-booking. However, they have not yet posted the excursions for Navigator in the Western Caribbean. We are booked on the Dec 11. 2009 sailing. Because the excursions are included in the cruise fare, they go quickly once they are posted. My problem is that we will be on the Celebrity Mercury from 8/12 to 8/30 and will have limited internet access.

I’d like to know if there is a chance RSSC will post the excursions between 8/22 and 9/1, or if they are planning to do it a little later. Someone on Cruise Critic inquired and were told it would be “around Labor Day”. If that is the case, I can breath easier while in Alaska.

RSSC Included Air

This does not affect me because I already have the air credit for the Regent cruise, but folks on the Regent forum on Cruise Critic are wondering why the “Included Air” on the rssc.com web site has disappeared, and whether it is still offered. Another person heard that while included air may still be offered, they were dropping the air credit if it is not taken. Has anyone heard anything about these questions?

I just wish everyone had an agent like cruzunlimited to whom they could turn for reliable answers.
